Way Down opposition leader support for the people of West Papua

FIJIAN Opposition Leader, Ro Teimumu Kepa, took to the street today in solidarity with the people of West Papua.
Holding the Morning Star flag, Kepa walked with young people towards Parliament before the youths boarded buses to travel around the capital.
The event marked the third day of support for West Papua which is being discussed at the Melanesian Spearhead Group in Honiara, the Solomon Islands.
Morning Star flags - the flag of independent West Papua before it was annexed by Indonesia - have been distributed in Fiji and the Solomons.
Over three days civil society led by the Pacific Islands Association of NGOs (PIANGO), Pacific Network on Globalisation (PANG) and the Pacific Conference of Churches (PCC) have stepped up activities to raise awareness on the situation in West Papua.
More than half a million people have been killed by Indonesian soldiers in the territory in the last 50 years.
Indonesia has now started a programme which aims to make indigenous west Papuans a minority in their land by introducing immigrants from Java.
