Local Papuan media is reporting that 84 West Papuans were arrested and some tortured today just for demonstrating in support of West Papua joining the Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG).

There were 75 people arrested in Manokwari, 6 in Sentani and 3 in Biak. They are all still believed to be in jail. This is a photo of the 6 people who were arrested in Sentani. Their names are
Edo Pahabol (15), Yunani Balyo (25), Maris Tabuni (21), Ade Paragaye (18), Jasa Balyo (26) and Edison Yare (23)
A Papuan civil spokesman, Bazoka Logo said that arrests carried out by this apparatus is common and arrests carried out by the authorities indicate that Papuan people are not citizens of Indonesia
.
"With actions like this, the people of Papua, Indonesia and the world have to open your eyes and see the Indonesian treatment against Papuans. Because with actions like these Indonesia openly states that Papua was not part of Indonesia. Then the Papuans should be aware and united in supporting the national action for The United Liberation Movement for West Papua - ULMWP entered as a member of MSG," said Logo.
